Thank you for using the Scintilla application. We respect your privacy and make every effort to keep your personal data secure. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, for what purpose we use it, and what rights you have in connection with its processing. By using the Scintilla application, you confirm that you have read this Privacy Policy.
Scintilla is a mobile application supporting the development of spiritual and religious life. Among other things, the application enables you to: • access daily quotes from the saints, • learn about the lives of selected saints (the so-called "Week with a Saint"), • practice Lectio Divina, • use prayers, • keep a journal of intentions, • take part in virtual pilgrimages, • complete spiritual tasks, • follow paths of spiritual growth, • record your own reflections and notes.
Account data: • e-mail address, • user identifier assigned by the authentication system, • encrypted login credentials. Data related to the use of the application: • information about activity within the application, • progress in using features, • user settings, • application preferences. Data stored solely locally on your device — not collected by us or transmitted to our servers: • display name in your profile, • notification settings (reminder times, enabled slots), • application appearance and language preferences, • biometric authentication data (Face ID / fingerprint) — processed exclusively by your device's operating system; the application only receives the verification result (yes/no) and has no access to the biometric data itself, • all content entered by the user in the Chronicle, the Shrine, the Treasury of Reflections, and the 40-Day Journey (notes, reflections, spiritual journal entries, personal prayers, and other personal content) — owing to the particularly sensitive nature of this data. This data can only be deleted manually by the user. Technical data: • device and operating system, • application version, • the device's IP address, transmitted automatically with each connection to the application's servers, • identifiers related to subscription handling, • information necessary to ensure the security of the service.
We process data solely to the extent necessary for the operation of the application, for the purpose of: • creating and maintaining a user account, • logging in to the application, • providing access to a purchased subscription, • synchronizing data between devices, • saving user progress, • providing the services available in the application, • ensuring the security of our systems, • detecting abuse, • handling complaints, • fulfilling obligations arising from legal provisions.
If you give your consent, the application may send notifications reminding you to use the application. These notifications consist of a single general reminder with fixed text ("Your spark is waiting ✦") at the time indicated by the user. You can disable notifications in your device or application settings.
We process data on the basis of: Performance of a contract — when you create an account and use the application. Legitimate interest of the Data Controller — in order to ensure security, protect against abuse, and maintain the stability of the application. Consent — where you consent to specific features, such as notifications. Legal obligations — where required by legal provisions.
Scintilla offers paid subscriptions that renew automatically. Payments are handled by the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store. The Data Controller does not receive users' payment card data. Information related to purchases and active subscriptions may be processed by the payment providers and by the RevenueCat system in order to verify access to the application.

Some service providers may process data outside the European Economic Area. In such cases, appropriate safeguards required by the GDPR are applied, in particular the Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission.
We retain account data for the duration of your use of the application. After an account is deleted, data is removed immediately from our active servers. Backup copies may be retained for a period of up to 30 days. Inactive accounts are deleted automatically: accounts without an active subscription — after 90 days of inactivity; accounts with a subscription history — after 12 months of inactivity. Data stored solely locally on your device can only be deleted manually by the user.
You may delete your account at any time directly within the application. Deleting your account ends your ability to use services that require logging in. Some data may be retained for a limited time where required by legal provisions or by legitimate needs related to security and accounting.
You have the right to: access your data, rectify your data, erase your data, restrict processing, data portability, object to processing, withdraw consent, and lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority. In Poland, the supervisory authority is the President of the Personal Data Protection Office. To exercise the above rights, please contact us at the e-mail address indicated in Section 18.

We apply appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect data against loss, unauthorized access, disclosure, modification, or destruction. In the event of a personal data breach that may result in a risk to the rights and freedoms of users, we will inform them without undue delay in accordance with the requirements of the GDPR. However, no method of transmitting data over the Internet guarantees complete security.
As Scintilla develops, we may implement additional tools for analyzing application stability, monitoring errors, improving service quality, and analyzing application usage. In the event of significant changes, this Privacy Policy will be updated accordingly.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The current version will always be available within the application. In the event of significant changes, users may be informed through the application.
